July 30th - A look at Oak Creek RV Park

Down here in Flinn Springs, we stay at the Oak Creek RV Park.  The park isn't that bad, but we got spoiled in El Centro last year.  The spaces could be wider.  You want room for your camper, your car, and outside lounging area.  What we have here is any two of the three.  Consequently, we are paying for a parking spot away from the camper so the truck isn't right on top of the front door.  There is also a charge for pets, which isn't unusual, but we have never had it applied to an indoor cat.

This area is a small canyon, so when it's hot, there is little breeze getting down to us.  We are not usually out here this early in the year, and with the heat wave this summer, it was pretty unbearable.  The basic rent isn't that bad, and there are amenities such as a clubhouse, laundry and pool.  We'll probably try to not stay here again, but it's passable for now.

July 27th - Seal Beach

Eliza and Brett were going to take the kids to see the seals, and we met them there.  The city constructed a small jetty to create a kid's beach in La Jolla.  The seals and sea lions loved it so much they moved in.  Seal beach is just north of that. The kids played in the surf and we explored a cavern made by the wave action.  Simple fun is always good with kids around.

July 25th - We take the kiddies to the park

The area we live in is called Flinn Springs. Named for William Flinn who bought the land in the 1880s.  Originally from Kentucky, William and his wife are buried in a small family cemetery in the area.  Flinn Springs is nestled in a small valley east of El Cajon and south of Lakeside, Ca.  Olde highway 80 is the main road through the valley.  There is a small county park here, and we spent some time this afternoon there with the kiddies.

They played on the jungle gym, and the swings, and also played on some large rocks until I took them one at a time and put the in the crook of a big tree for pictures.  It was warm, but they had fun.  Kids don't care.

Evie.  Yeah, they are all hams.
